Happy YOU Year!

HAPPY YOU YEAR “Today you are YOU, that is TRUER than true. There is NO ONE alive who is YOUER than YOU!”   — Dr. Seuss   What have you done for yourself lately? Yes, you heard me correctly. When was the last time you celebrated . . . you?

Story Time

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”  – English Proverb

I couldn’t help but smile as I inhaled the slightly musty odor greeting me as I walked down the wooden steps. While on a trip in Michigan, Hubby and I happened upon a surprising discovery of an antique shop in the basement of the gift shop we’d been wading through. For me, there’s nothing more delightful than to wander through stewed aromas representing rooms full of used merchandise. I’m not referring to any disgusting smells here, but rather, more like the scents of Grandma’s attic . . . years of different, interesting items put together all in one place.

Lessons Learned From A Silly ‘Ol Bear

Let’s talk about Pooh. I’m referring to Winnie the Pooh, of course! I have long since held a treasured affinity for this certain, endearing bundle of matted, brown fur.  My fondness I shall never outgrow, though Christopher Robin did . . . almost. I recently took my granddaughter to see the movie “Christopher Robin” and

JUMP!

Motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar once said, “F-E-A-R has two meanings: ‘forget everything and run’, or, ‘face everything and rise’.” Can anyone take a wild guess at which choice I’m most inclined to choose? (Crickets chirping). You know the feeling. When you really want to do something, but then again—you kinda sorta don’t. It’s like

Silence Speaks

I lay awake in the dark, acutely aware of the reverberating chirp of crickets in the woods outside my window. The repetitive, croaking rhythm of frogs seems an obnoxious volume. A cat’s meow escapes from up in the trees. Leaves rustle as a nearby raccoon shuffles along the ground.

A Change of Scenery

“Go on a road trip,” they said. “It’ll be fun,” they said. Well, I did. And it was. In a moment mixed with part insanity, part curiosity, and part courage, I agreed to go on a road trip with my husband last week.

All Hearts Come Home For Christmas

“God calls us to come home for Christmas. God calls us to come back from all those places where we have settled for less than the fullness of life promised to us in Christ. God calls us back from all the ambitions and possessions we have pursued, thinking they would satisfy us. God calls us

Pondering Thoughts

It was lovely. I started the day making cinnamon rolls. Watched the Macy’s parade, looked at Black Friday ads, rode my bike, tossed a football, prepared some food, ATE a little bit of food (okay, lots of food), and even managed to get a little bit of writing in. It was a good day.
